Our Initiatives:
 C-TPAT
– Customs Trade Partnership Against Terrorism. This initiative was
effective April 17, 2002. Chiquita Brands International, parent company of
Great White Fleet has applied for certification and is currently awaiting a
confirmation of compliance
ISPS
Code – International Ship and Port Security Code. Under the
International Maritime Organization (IMO), a branch of the United Nations,
this must be completed by July 1, 2004. Our Ships and ports will
participate in a security assessment. This assessment, along with a
detailed security plan will be submitted for approval to the Flag Country
for ships and to the appropriate government authorities in each port
location where Chiquita operates. Lastly an independent audit will
performed to ensure compliance.
SCI
– Sea Carrier Initiative. Chiquita has participated in this program
since 1983. It is targeted to address illegal drug related incidents. In
fact, our company approached US Customs to formulate this initiative. We
have never been found in violation with the guidelines.
BASC
– Business Anti-Smuggling Coalition. Chiquita is a participant in
several countries including Guatemala, Panama and Colombia.
